The Art of Being Peaceful

Peace: Freedom from disturbance. Quiet and tranquility.

Steps to being peaceful:

  • Practice what brings you peace. For me, I love to journal while drinking a hot cup of coffee. I light a frankincense and myrrh incense, find me a quiet place to sit and let my hand dance with the pen across the blank pages. Afterwards, (sometimes before) I sit and meditate for ten minutes.
  • Sitting in silence is also peaceful. Someone may ask what is the difference in meditating and sitting in silence. There isn’t much of a difference-in my opinion. However, I can sit in silence without meditation, no sound, no electronics.
  • Coloring…lately I have been investing time in coloring. In the back of my Erin Condren life planner, there is a section that have coloring pages and blank pages that you can draw or doodle. I didn’t realize how helpful this could be. It has been years since I have sat down and colored. To see how colors, bring a picture to life is therapeutic for me. It takes me back to being a kid. The place where there are no worries-no cares.
  • Daily I tell myself an affirmation that starts with “I AM…” I write them down in my journal. I stick them on my mirrors or on my vision board. I place affirmations in places where I can see them and to be reminded throughout the day of positivity and peace.

“I invite peace and harmony to dwell in me and surround me at all times.”

There are other ways to bring peace into your life. Other examples are, taking a walk-in nature. Changing your room around. Adding peaceful decor to your home. Dancing around to your favorite song. Sharing a laugh with your kids or love one.

These are some things that I do to keep a peaceful mindset. Please feel free to share your thoughts, tips, or some of your practices in the comment section.
